Tranby, making positive change happen for Mob.

Since 1957, Tranby has been a space for Mob to gather, share stories, and shape change. Our historic Glebe campus, with its heritage and contemporary spaces, blends tradition with innovation, welcoming community events, programs, and national conversations that ripple far beyond our walls.

ABOUT TRANBY

COMMUNITY & CULTURE

A safe place to gather, yarn, and act.

Tranby has always been more than classrooms. Our story is tied to grassroots activism, cultural renewal, and community-led change. From historic campaigns for Land Rights, Black Deaths in Custody to today’s national conversations, Tranby continues to be a culturally safe meeting place for our people to pursue learning, leadership, and liberation on their own terms.
Community
Our Difference

Strengthening identity. Amplifying voices. Creating change.

Thousands of people who have walked through Tranby leave more connected to culture, confident in their identity, and ready to make a difference. The ripple of their impact spreads through families, communities, and movements nationally.

Campus & Heritage

A Meeting Place on Gadigal Country

Tranby is a meeting place - a safe, common ground where people can come together to share ideas and learn. Since 1957, our heritage-listed Glebe campus has been a hub for Aboriginal education, culture, and activism. Our unique spaces are available for venue hire, offering a culturally significant setting for gatherings, events, and conversations that matter.

Tranby continues to grow through new connections and partnerships. Our commitment to First Nations learning and to building self-supporting local economies has remained strong; we are proud to contribute to emerging areas of community empowerment, from leadership development to women’s programs and the safeguarding of Elders’ oral stories.

It is more important than ever that we develop the skills necessary for building, or rather, re-building, a self-determined First Nations economy. This work cannot happen without truth-telling, without listening to the stories that have shaped and continue to shape our communities.
Mick Gooda, Co-Chairperson
